Seminar "The Russian and world art history: history and perspectives for cooperation. Yannis Rammos. Roland Barthes's "Critique Pathétique"
On Monday, March 13, at 13.00 in the White Hall of the Russian Institute for the History of Arts held eighth workshop in the series “The Russian and world art history: the history and perspectives of cooperation” Chair: Yiannis Rammos (Ph.D., New York University). In this lecture, mr. Rammos ponders the hitherto unexplored potential of Roland Barthes’s “critique pathétique”—a term coined by the French philosopher in his last and unfinished seminar at the Collège de France—to unsettle the conventions and aesthetics of music analysis, in pursuit of a particular kind of satisfaction that is typically banished from the discipline.
In a broad semantic context will be discussed an issues concerning to musical semiotics and aesthetics of musical analysis.
