Seminar «Contemporary Opera: Vectors of development»: «Pique Dame»
On Monday, February 20 at 14.00 in the Сinema Hall of Russian Institute for Art History, was host a next seminar of the series «Contemporary Opera: Vectors of development». The workshop will be devoted to the recent production (June 2016) of Tchaikovsky’s opera “Pique Dame” in the Dutch National Opera. Stefan Herheim a project producer placed an action of the opera into a special “surreal” context, in which we see the composer and a projection of his hopes and fears. Premiere has been controversial – from delight to complete derogatory criticism. It is particularly noted the musical performance of the play, for which was responsible the conductor Mariss Jansons. The seminar will be held video screenings and a discussion of the play.
The seminar as well as the video screenings was be accompanied by commentary of researchers of Department of Music, RIAH prof. Anna Porfir’eva and dr. George Kovalevsky.
