Seminar "Bucky Urmanche, the Singing Artist. To the 120th anniversary of his birth»

On Wednesday, April 11, in the White hall of Russian Institute for the History of Arts at 14.30 the Folklore Department, N.Yu.Almeeva, PhD will present a seminar “Bucky Urmanche, the Singing Artist. To the 120th anniversary of his birth” (from the cycle: “Folklore, Anthropology, Ethnography”).
Bucky Urmanche (1897-1990) is rightfully considered as the founder and patriarch of the Tatar professional art of the European type: for more than seventy years of active life he created numerous works of sculpture, painting, graphic art, Muslim calligraphy. His multifaceted artistic giftedness was combined at his person with high spirituality, encyclopedic education, knowledge of European and Oriental languages. He carried in himself the talent of a national singer, possessing a beautiful natural voice, masterly mastering the technique of performing folk lingering songs. Communicating with the Bucky Urmanche oeuvre, listening to his spiritual singing, we feel the soul of the Tatar culture and rejoice in the powerful and bright energy of the great creative personality.
