Open lecture «Italian chapters in history of the institute»
On Wednesday, March 20, an open lecture by T. Ismagulova on “Italian chapters in history of the institute” (“The History of Zubov’ Mansion and Institute”, the cycle “Tasks and Methods of Arts Studying”) was take place in the Green Hall of the Russian Institute for the History of Arts.
Italian, or rather, “Florentine” influences are noticeable even in the very appearance of the institute building, which was designed and built by the young (then) architect Julius Andreyevich (Ernestovich) Bosse as the “Florentine palace” for Count Zakrevsky. When it was rebuilt as a family mansion of the Zubov counts (1860s, architect K. K. Schulz), this shape was retained.
