Open Lecture by V. F. Poznin «Theoretical Consideration of Cinematography as a Special Type of Spatial-Time Arts»
On Monday, October 25, an open lecture by V. F. Poznin, D. Hab, Head of the Department of Film and Television «Theoretical Comprehension of Cinematography as a Special Type of Spatial-Temporal Arts» (cycle «Tasks and Methods of Studying the Arts») took place at Russian Institute for the History of Arts.
The theory of cinema as a new art form began to take shape already in the 1910s. By the end of the 1940s, the conceptual apparatus of cinematography was basically developed, which we still use today.
The material of the lecture gives an idea of the interaction of theory and practice of cinema, of views on the art of cinema R. Canudo, L. Delluc, L. Mussinak, B. Balash, R. Arnheim, A. Bazin, Z. Krakauer, L. Kuleshov, S. Eisenstein, V. Pudovkin, D. Vertov and other practitioners and researchers who have made a significant contribution to the theory of cinema.
The lecture was held via videoconference.
