Ivan Sablin personal open lecture: "Leonardo da Vinci: A look from the art critic perspective"
On Wednesday, 7 December, at 14.00 in the White Hall of Russian Institute for Art History a senior research scientist Ivan Sablin, PhD (Department of Fine Arts and Architecture, RIAH), will present with his personal open lecture “Leonardo da Vinci: A look from the art critic perspective”.
What was Leonardo the artist, and how it can be suddenly, so paradoxically close to us? Who else but art criticist has the right to try to give a satisfactory answer to this question. The art critic low voice, however, will most likely sinked at the cacophony of opinions, judgments, assumptions, speculations and myths, strangely attracted by such, without a doubt, exceptional figure as was da Vinci.
Will there be a place for a modest statement by representative of the historian of art? – It is difficult to say … But for the art historians sometimes are necessary to speak about the creative heritage of this man, too. Once being alone with his “mysterious”, or mysterious – in the true sense of the word, heritage, they can get confused, not knowing how to treat the actual picturesque origin, which nevertheless seems somewhat superior, something absolutely essential that not overshadow any “terrible secret” – or in truth the mystery .. . and terrible truth? Such an attempts to form the own relationship to the fact that everyone knows and no one knows, will present with this lecture.
All are invited to attend.
