"Folklore, anthropology, ethnography: Encounters at the edge of the world. A visit to the peoples of the Russian Far East"
On Wednesday, February 10 at 16.00 at White Hall of Russian Institute for Art History will be held the next seminar of the series “Folklore, anthropology, ethnography.” Anastasia Guzanova will present her report “”Encounters at the edge of the world. A visit to the peoples of the Russian Far East”.
In the summer of 2016 there was a three-month ethnographic expedition to the Far East. From late July to late October polls, audio and photographic recording in three regions (Primorsky Krai, Khabarovsky Krai, Sakhalin Oblast). The expedition were visited to the five indigenous peoples of the Far East (Udege, Nanai, Nivkh, Orochi, Ulchi) to get acquainted with their rich cultural past and the modern way of life.
The report will describe the specific representatives of each of these nations (and not only them), their concerns about changing realities of life with respect to the traditional way, about their views on the fate of its people.
The report will accompanied by photographs of the most interesting sites and people, as well as fragments of the interview, recorded during the trip.
