Seminar workshop «Folklore, anthropology, ethnography: New trends in visual anthropology»

On Monday, June 6 at 15.00 in in White Hall of Russian Institute for Art History, department of folklore, RIAH present the next seminar in the series “Anthropology, folklore, ethnography.” The meeting is entitled “New trends in visual anthropology.”

Keynote speaker: Bulat Khalilov (Nalchik). In nowadays the folklorists and anthropologists are equipped with the latest types of equipment, which allows them record media in hi-res, and then publish their written materials. Such a situation with a particular acuteness detect the problem of fixation techniques of traditional art and different positions to its promulgation. Visual anthropology in general differs the extraordinary range of opinions, views and approaches. The urgency of the upcoming workshop is to demonstrate a new methods of ethnographic survey and its further popularization. «Ored recordings» group consists of a number of active, enthusiastic visual anthropologists who try their own views on traditional culture correlated with the creative initiative of the brightest of its representatives – the outstanding folk musicians – so-called cinofixation ways.
