VIII Scientific and Practical Conference “Musical Petersburg: Documents and Personalities”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ira Fedorovna Petrovskaya

On November 25 and 26, 2019, the VIII Scientific and Practical Conference “Musical Petersburg: Documents and Personalities” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ira Fedorovna Petrovskaya will be held in the Green Hall of the Russian Institute for the History of Arts.

Conferences on the musical history of St.Petersburg are regularly held by the Department of Music, Russian Institute for the History of Arts as part of a work on the multi-volume encyclopedia Musical Petersburg, which began more than a quarter century ago. Scientists involved in the project are given the opportunity to publish their findings, as well as participate in open discussions. Following the conferences, several thematic collections and preparatory volumes of the encyclopedia were published. The issues for this conference is related to Ira Fedorovna Petrovskaya’ (1919–2014) anniversary. She was historian of Russian ancient culture, a source specialist, archivist, researcher of theatrical and musical life of Russia in the 18th – early 20th centuries. I.F. Petrovskaya worked at the Russian Institute for the History of Arts for 56 and a half years, left behind important scientific works and became a symbol of scientific impartiality, integrity and objectivity for many scientists.
