Scientific Conference "Department of Music, Russian institute for the History of Arts: from the past to the present century (on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Department)"

On June 26 and 28 in the Green Hall of the Russian institute for the History of Arts, there was be a scientific conference “Department of Music, Russian institute for the History of Arts: from the past to the present century (on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Department)”.

February 19, 1920 – this date is considered the birthday of the Music Class of the Russian institute for the History of Arts. Founded as a solely educational institution, it very quickly turned into a scientific center, which it is today.

An extensive history, the formulation and development of new directions of musicology, new methods of studying the history of music make it possible to build a conference around three main topics:

1) the history of the sector as a scientific institution;

2) the development of some research areas – preliminary results;

3) personalities and personal accents.

Former graduates, friends and colleagues, musicologists and more are invited to participate in the discussion. The conference is designed as a form of friendly scientific communication. Celebrations in honor of the RIHA Music Department 100th anniversary are scheduled for 2020.

Doctors Habilitatus in the History of Arts:A.I.Demchenko, A.I.Klimovitsky, L.G.Kovnatskaya, J.V.Knyazeva, V.A.Lapin, N.A.Ogarkova, T.P.Samsonova, N.S.Seryogina will take part in the conference. PhDs in the History of Arts: G.V.Kovalevsky, M.A.Konstantinova, N.R.Melik-Davtyan, G.V.Petrova, A.L.Porfiryeva, O.A.Skorbyashchenskaya, D.A.Shumilin, S.E.Englin, as well as graduates and guests of the Department.

June 26 – the day of the history of the Department, the memoirs of scientists who worked at the institute.

June 28 – reports on issues related to the main areas of research in the Music Department.
