International Scientific Conference "The Epistolary Genre Memorials in Art Studies: Problems and Prospects for Research"

The International Scientific Conference “The Epistolary Genre Memorials in Art Studies: Problems and Prospects for Research” will be held in the White Hall of Russian Institute for the History of Arts, October 22-24th.

Since 2014, RIHA is working on a research and publishing project “New documents on the history of art history: the twentieth century.” Two conferences devoted to the periods of 1920-1930 (in 2014) and 1940-1960 (in 2016) respectively, have already been held within the framework of the project. The materials of the first conference are presented in the book “New documents on the history of art history: the twentieth century” (Issue 1, 1920-1930-ies., RIHI, 2017). The materials of the second are currently being prepared for publication.

In autumn 2018, the third conference of this cycle will be held. Unlike the two previous symposiums, it will be devoted not to the historical period, but to a group of sources – to letters.

Reports will be made by scientists (art critics of various specialties) from Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, France, the USA.
