International research and practice conference "SPIRITUAL VALUES OF MOUNT ATHOS AND RUSSIAN NORTH"

Athos monastic – the keeper of the spiritual values of Byzantium. Russian northern monasteries called Northern Athos. The greatness of Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire, which, according to Athonite elder abbot of the monastery Simonopetra Archimandrite Emilianos “God created”, has to be the origin of the northern capital of Russia, St. Petersburg sacred cultural paradigm. The conference will address theoretical, historical and practical issues of the Orthodox culture and art of northern Russia and Mount Athos in connection with the issues of the value of the Byzantine spiritual heritage of the Slavic world today.

The conference program includes the following aspects:

– The unity of the spiritual tradition of Orthodox monasticism and art;

– Slavic Mount Athos sainted and the Athos sainted in the Slavic lands: iconography, hymnography, folk tradition;

– The spiritual circle of Valaam – Solovki – Cyril – Belozersky;

– Byzantine musical tradition in the Slavic world;

– Slavic cantos on Athos;

– “Last Byzantines” Slavic culture

It is planned to hold a round table on topical problems of the study of Slavonic and Greek cultural traditions “IMMORTALITY OF THE BYZANTINE AND THE SLAVIC WORLD”

Forms of participation: report (20 min.), Post (10 min.), A demonstration video and audio.
