"Apollo Readings", The second scientific-practical conference
On Wednesday, November 6, at 12.00 in the White Hall of the Russian Institute for the History of Arts the Second Scientific and Practical Conference “Apollo Readings” was be held.
The idea of “Apollo readings” and the intention to hold them at the Russian Institute for the History of Arts is not accidental, it is prompted by the history of the institute itself — as an institution that used advanced methods in the study of arts. The literary and art monthly journal “Apollo”, set itself similar research tasks, even when it appeared in 1909. In terms of its texts, the multidirectional nature of its interests, and its synthetics, the journal was closely aligned with the ideas that formed the basis of the Institute for the History of Arts. Finally, the circle of authors of Apollo is close or directly coincides with the staff of the institute, including Baron N. N. Wrangel, O. F. Waldgauer, A. Ya. Levinson, M. L. Lozinsky, V. G. Karatygin , N.E. Radlova, V.N. Soloviev, B.V. Tomashevsky and others.
It is important to keep in mind the fact that this year marks the 110th anniversary of the publication of the first volume of the Apollo magazine (November 6, according to old style).
The Second Apollon Readings (the first took place at the Pushkin House in 2014) was bring together experts from various fields of art history, both employees of the institute and researchers from other institutes and organizations: K. M. Azadovsky, A. V. Burleshinn, Yu.E. Galanina, E.A. Gollerbakh, P.V. Dmitriev, E.L. Kuranda, L.S. Oves, A.L. Porfiryev, A.A. Chaban, etc.
