International Congress "Traditional Folklore of the Peoples of Russia and the CIS Countries"

The folklore sector of the Russian Institute for the History of Arts (St. Petersburg) October 29–30, 2018, hosts the International Congress “Traditional Folklore of the Peoples of Russia and the CIS Countries”.

The issues of the congress “Personality in Traditional Culture” include the following aspects:

– human creativity in various types of folk art: musical (vocal, instrumental), dance, verbal;

– the process of creating traditional art, identifying internal, subjective artistic and psychological aspects and properties: the psychology of creativity of a traditional musician, personality types and types of performers, the ratio of individual and collective in traditional culture, the interaction of personal and universal in local style, nature and people traditions, creativity and perception;

– form, structure, style, transformations in the texts, changes in the traditional modes of artistic expression in modern times, types of thinking, behavioral norms, etc.

The target audience of the project: scientists, students and graduate students – ethno-musicologists, philologists-folklorists, ethnographers, ethnosociologists, ethnolinguists, ethnopsychologists.

Forms of participation: report (15–20 min.), Lecture (60 min.), Round table, demonstration of video and audio expedition materials.

The program of the congress is supposed to show anthropological documentaries, a musical and ethnographic concert.

Under the auspices of the congress, the annual Eighth “School of Young Folklore Scientists” is planned. Within the framework of the School, leading domestic scientists will give lectures, held seminars, master classes and individual consultations.

We ask you to send applications for participation in the congress and the School until September 10, 2018 in the form of: full name, academic degree, place of work (study), position, address, e-mail, intended form of participation (report at the conference, student of the School), topic speeches and a brief abstract of up to 300 words (for students of the School at will) with the prospect of publication by the beginning of the congress. The organizing committee reserves the right to select applications.

The host party will pay for the accommodation of the participants of the congress and students of the School in the hotels of St. Petersburg. Students of the School will be extended their stay in St. Petersburg from October 29 to November 2, 2018 (with payment for the stay). Payment of fare and food – at the expense of the directing side.

For students of the School a fee of 6,000 rubles is set. Upon completion of the School will be issued the appropriate certificates of professional development (72 academic hours).
