Scientific conference "The School of Theater Cognition: History and Modernity", dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Alexei Gvozdev
On Monday, December 11, at 12.00 in the Green Hall of Russian Institute for the History of Arts there was be held a scientific conference “School of Theater Cognition: History and Modernity” dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the Alexei Gvozdev, the founder of the Leningrad Theater School, the Principal Member of the Zubovsky Institute. The personality of Gvozdev, the author of large numbers of works on the history of Russian and foreign theater, a theatrical critic, was well known in Leningrad in the 1920s. Today, interest in the heritage of a major scientist, his ideas for reforming the ballet theater, his activities as a theater critic and “school” as a whole has grown significantly. The program of the conference, whose participants are well-known historians and theorists of the theater, shows that the genealogy of the XXI century theatrical studies, of course, goes back to the traditions of the Gvozdev school.
