Scientific and Practical International Conference «Ecology of Culture: Preserving of the Spiritual and Aesthetic Heritage of Christianity in Russia and Europe».
May 26-28, 2017 St. Petersburg State University and the Russian Institute for the History of Arts will hold the Scientific and Practical International Conference «Ecology of Culture: Preserving of the Spiritual and Aesthetic Heritage of Christianity in Russia and Europe».
The 2017 has been declared in our country the Year of Ecology. Serious, vitally important issues have been accumulated today not only in the biosphere wich surrounding us, but also in the spiritual, psychological, creative, sociocultural environment. The term «ecology of culture» implies the existence of a spiritual and moral basis of being and culture, the loss of which threatens humanity with a catastrophe comparable to global natural disasters. Introduced in science by academician D. S. Likhachev, the term of ecology of Culture is extremely capacious, connected with the most topical issues, which concerns many representatives of creative professions, scholars of humanities, a wide range of people who are not indifferent to the destinies of the world cultural heritage. The identification of Christian roots in the cultures of Russia and Europe is the basis for the revival of their internal interconnections in the world cultural landscape. In addition, the translation of cultural codes and forms, as well as the replenishment of religious, aesthetic and moral “losses”, are impossible without the awareness of the positive experience of religious and secular institutions, unfortunately often separated in modern Russian and Western cultural and historical reality.
The international conference, scheduled for May 2017 on the basis of the St. Petersburg State University and the Russian Institute for the History of Arts, will be devoted to the most important aspect of the ecology of culture: the issues of saving, preserving, studying of the unique monuments of Christian culture, many of which are known to be threatened destruction or oblivion.
Scientists, cultural figures, representatives of mass media from different regions of Russia and from abroad are invited to the conference. The high scientific and theoretical potential of the speakers is consigned to attract attention not only to the study of monuments, but also to the revival of historical and cultural memory, opens up opportunities for projects in the preservation of culture and the establishment of the fundamental foundations of humanities education.
The range of issues addressed at the conference:
