International Scientific and Practical Conference «Cinematography Studies. Education. Film distribution. History, Issues, Prospects» (To the 75th birthday of Anatoliy Zagulin)

September 23–24, Russian Institute for the History of Arts will hold the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Cinematography Studies. Education. Film distribution. History, Issues, Prospects» (To the Anatoly Zagulin’ 75th birthday).
The conference is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the outstanding film expert and bibliographer Anatoly Mikhailovich Zagulin, who for several decades headed the cinema lab in the Russian Institute for the History of Arts. The professional activities of Anatoly Mikhailovich served as the basis for the work of four generations of Leningrad – St.Petersburg cinematography studies since the early 1970s.
The anniversary of Anatoly Mikhailovich is a great occasion to discuss not only about the past of the Leningrad film school, but also about the state of the contemporary cinematography theory and film criticism, the aesthetic education of the audience and other topical issues.
The conference will be held at the Cinema Hall, Russian Institute for the History of Arts at the following address: 190000, St. Petersburg, Isaakievskaya Square, 5.

The main directions of reports and messages:
1. History of film studies in Russia:
– The history of the cinema and cinema lab of the GIII-LGITMiK-RIHA;
– The work of prominent historians and theorists of cinema and screen art, employees of the Department of cinematography, RIHA: B. Likhachev, E. Arnoldi, N. Efimova, N. Yezuitova, B. Brodyansky, J. Marcoulan, R. Kopylova, J. Ioskevich, N. Gornitskaya, V. Kuznetsova, I. Seman, L. Muratova, S. Gurevich and others.
2. Filmography and bibliography as an integral part of film studies.
3. Film production and film distribution in the USSR and nowadays Russia.
4. History and contemporary problems of film education in Russia.

Forms of participation: report (15 min.), Message (7–10 min.), Demonstration of video and audio materials, poster presentation.
Deadline for submission: June 1, 2019 – application: name, academic degree, place of work, position, address, e-mail, field of activity, intended form of participation, topic;
July 1, 2019 – materials for publication (volume from 10,000 to 20,000 characters). The full name, title of the article, abstract (up to 500 characters), keywords (10–15 words) are given in Russian and English. Footnotes and notes are placed after the main text. A numbered list of references is arranged at the end of the article in alphabetical order. References to literature are given separated by commas in brackets: the first digit is the number of the edition, the second is the number of the page. For example: [2, 68].
