Postgraduate study 2018

Entrance auditions for postgraduate study of RIHA are held from 07 to 17 September 2018.

Acceptance of documents: from August 1 to September 6, 2018.

Postgraduate admission to the Russian Institute for the History of Arts in 2018 will be implemented on a budgetary and extra-budgetary basis for educational programs of higher education – programs for the training of scientific and pedagogical staff in graduate school 50.06.01 Art History.

The license for educational practice No.0846 of September 9, 2013, issued by the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (perpetually) allows the Institute, within the framework of a unified training course 50.06.01 Art History, to conduct training of scientific and pedagogical personnel on the professional higher education programs education (directions) as follows:

17.00.01 – theatrical art;

17.00.02 – musical art;

17.00.03 – cinematography, body and other on-screen arts;

17.00.09 – theory and history of art;

24.00.01 – theory and history of culture.

Admission is carried out within the limits of the reception quota allocated to FGBU “Interobrazovanie” for budgetary places. According to aforementioned quota 3 budget places were allocated for the 2018/19 academic year for the admission of RIHA. Training on a contractual (fee-based) basis is possible beyond this quota. Training in distance postgraduate program is carried out exclusively on a contractual (paid) basis. The partisipation to the postgraduate program of the RIHA for the preparation of a Ph.D. thesis and passing the examinations of the candidate’s minimum (for aspirant) are also possible on a contractual (fee-based) basis.

The term of study in full-time course – three years, distance postgraduate program – four years.

Applicants are allowed to take competitive examinations based on the results of the interview and a presence of positive respond for a completed candidate’s thesis on the specialty from the prospective scientific supervisor.

Foreign citizens are accepted for postgraduate course on the basis of international treaties and intergovernmental agreements of the Russian Federation on a contractual basis, which provides for the tuition fees. It is necessary for those who have received higher education in one of the foreign universities to present a document on obtaining a Master of Arts degree equivalent, to be able for participation in the competition.

Admission to postgraduate study are hold according to the results of entrance examinations as follows:

– Specialty;

– Philosophy;

– Foreign language;

The first to pass is a specialty exam. The admission to the remaining disciplines examinations is given upon the assessment is “excellent” or “good”.

Retake of entrance exams is not allowed.

Those who have passed all or part of the candidate examinations are exempted from passing the corresponding entrance examinations upon admission to the graduate school upon the decision of the admissions committee.

To participate in the competition, the candidate must submit the following documents:

  • Application addressed to the Director of the Institute.
  • Copy of the diploma of higher education with an attachment.
  • 3 photos in size 3 x 4 cm.
  • A short autobiography (with the description of scientific activity – participation in scientific conferences, publications, etc.).
  • Copy of passport (pages 2, 3, 5).
  • An abstract with a volume of 1 printed list. (40,000 characters, or 22-24 pages) on the proposed research topic (graduates within calendar year after graduation could be presented with their graduate diploma’ works).
  • List of scientific publications (if available).

Applicants submit their documents in person. It is possible to submit documents in electronic form. Passport, diploma of higher education, military certificate or certificate of registration are submitted directly at the interview.

Non-resident applicants for the period of entrance examinations are not provided with a hostel.

The tuition fee for a full-time postgraduate course on an extrabudgetary basis is 283,000 rubles for Russian citizens, 285,000 rubles for citizens of the CIS countries, 300,000 rubles for foreign citizens per 1 graduate student/year. The tuition fee for a distance postgraduate program upon an extrabudgetary basis is 70,000 rubles for Russian citizens, 100,000 rubles for citizens of the CIS countries, 150,000 rubles for foreign citizens per 1 graduate student/year. It shoud be paid within the RIHA bank account by a graduate student or a sending organization.

For the purpose to conduct entrance examinations, the order of the Director of RIHA creates an examination and appeal committee.

The applicants has the right to appeal on the day of announcement of the results of the introductory test or within the next business day.

Individual achievements of those who apply are taken into account.

When conducting introductory tests, the characteristics of people with disabilities are taken into account.
