Musical-literary evening to the 240th anniversary Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann and the 260 th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

On Friday, June 3 at 19.00 in the Green Hall of Russian Institute for Art History, Department of Music present a musical-literary evening dedicated to the 240 anniversary of Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann and the 260 th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart remained one of unattainable ideals for E.T.A. Hoffmann as a romantic writer. In honor of his idol Hoffman, whose birthday is almost coincided with Mozart, took the name Amadeus and the birth date of one of their favorite characters, Kapellmeister Johannes Kreisler. And the date of the Mozart birth, Hoffman refers to January 27. Literary works of the German Romantic writer known and loved around the world, while its musical heritage, unfortunately, hardly known to a wide public. It is interesting that during his lifetime Hoffman, author of operas and vocal works and chamber ensembles, considered himself primarily as a musician, and already then a writer.

The concert at the Russian Institute for Art History, Hoffmann’s Trio in E-dur (written in Bamberg, 1809) will coexist with chamber and vocal works by Wolfgang Mozart.

Performers: students of Special School of Music Lisanova Natalia (piano), Tamara Rodionova (violin), Michael faces (cello), and program participants of the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation, the students of the St. Petersburg Music-Pedagogical College.

Leading the program – musicologist George Kovalevsky.
