To the 200th anniversary of the construction of St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the staff of the Russian Institute for the History of Arts prepared a commemorative exhibition. Within the framework of the exhibition rare books from the collection of the Scientific Library of Russian Institute for the History of Arts, including books of the XIX century on majolica and antique sculpture in the French language by the architect Montferrand will be presented.
A special place in the collection has the album “Eglise cathédrale de Saint-Isaac. Description of the architecturale, pittoresque et historique de ce monument … par A. Ricard de Montferrand” in 1845 with the donated autograph of the architect from 1850 and the edition of 1865 “Description of St. Isaac’s Cathedral in St. Petersburg, compiled according to official documents, with the attachment of 4 drawings of the Cathedral, its plan and the portrait of the architect”.
The exhibition will last until the end of March during the hours of the Scientific Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10.00 to 17.45, Fridays from 10.00 to 16.45.
