On Monday, December 19 at the White Hall of Russian Institute for Art History, Department of History and Theory of Art and Architecture was present scientific conference «Art and Education. The artists, the audience, critics as educators and learners, as artists and as citizens»

During the conference, there will be a discussion exhibition of various pedagogical situations related to art (primarily spatial and plastic), and with the history of art, with art history as a teaching subject for different categories of people: artists, amateurs, youth, members of a social system, etc.

Are that necessary (or do not?) for the practice, theory and history of art to educate of their artists as well as the audiences, educators or museum sphere stuff? Education of people of the artistic culture, especially artists itself – this is the first problem that will concern the reports.

The second problem – the place of art in the education and training of man in general: a citizen, a member of a community, social class, etc. The question will be considering from the historical and at the same time the general theoretical points of view, in connection with the question of the nature and meaning of human existance and art mission. It will be considering not only at the context of art history (the history of the philosophy of art), but in connection with the evolution of pedagogical ideas and methods as well.
