Scientific Conference "Anniversaries of October 1918-2017; authorities and artists. A revolutionary idea or a cult of state?"

On Wednesday, October 25, at 12.00 in the White Hall of Russian Institute for the History of Arts, holds the scientific conference “Anniversaries of October 1918-2017; authorities and artists. A revolutionary idea or a cult of state?”

The centennial of the one of the main events in the contemporary history of Russia, as it was called earlier – the “Great October Socialist Revolution”, attracts everyone’s attention. What are the meanings to look for in that revolution after a hundred years, how to comprehend the connection of such event toward the art, in which form should it be represented? Today such a questions arises like never before. On October 25, 2017, a team of research scientists within the Department of the fine arts and architecture of Russian Institute for the History of Arts as follows: A. Bobrikov, S. Ivanova, A. Korolev, I. Sablin, I. Chechot, suggests to consider the revolution from those sides that today may be of interest to all whose searching for a new ways for research of Russian art of the XX century. A special guest of the conference is a St. Petersburg artist Alexei Gan.
