Exhibition to the 125th anniversary of Moisei Berekhovsky

From the November 24, an exhibition of documents and materials of the Cabinet of Manuscripts timed to the 125th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous researcher of Jewish musical folklore Moisei Yakovlevich Berehovsky (1892-1961) will be organized in the lobby of the second floor in Russian Institute for the History of Arts. The exposition includes manuscripts of his scientific fundamental works, letters, documents on his collecting activities during the Great Patriotic War (copies), as well as the most important book editions of his works. The exhibition will last until the end of December.

Since 1966, Moisei Berehovsky personal archive fund is stored in the Cabinet of Manuscripts of the Russian Institute for the History of Arts, where it emerges from the heirs on his personal decree. The Fund contains 80 items of storage, including the largest scientific works of Berehovsky, including the five-volume series “Jewish musical folklore” (songs, instrumental music, melodies without words, musical and theatrical performances “Purimspiel”). The Berehovsky Fund is an object of close attention of researchers all over the world. Based on the documents and materials of the Foundation, numerous book and magazine publications have been published.
