ΧII-th International Organology Congress «BLAGODATOV’ READINGS»

October 21 to 23, 2019, The Russian Institute for the History of Arts, Department of Organology present the XII-th International Organology Congress «Blagodatov’ Readings”.  Musical organology is one of the oldest knowing knowledge of a humanity, creativity, and intellection. “The world instrumental musical culture, rooted in the depths of spirituality, has been bearing fruit for many thousands of years of its formation and development, possessing the highest moral and aesthetic merit, developed professionalism, traditional performing schools, bright creative personalities and magnificent artistic canvases. Without such a component it is impossible to comprehend the world musical culture as a whole” Ihor Macijewski

The congress objectives are professional and creative communication of organologists; analysis of the status, trends, achievements, current problems of contemporary science of musical instruments and instrumental music, its complex and multidimensional relationships with the humanities and exact sciences; creation of joint creative, scientific and educational projects.

The congress will be held in the Green Hall of the Institute at the address: 190000, St. Petersburg, Isaakievskaya Sq., 5.

The forthcoming scientific forum is called upon to consolidate specialists and experts in organology throughtout Russia, the CIS, as well as the foreign scientists to be devoted to a wide range of issues in contemporary science of organology, among which are as follows:

  • native organology: history, issues and prospects;
  • the contribution of Russian scientists to the study of musical instruments and instrumental music of world nations;
  • the issues of academical organology;
  • ethnoorganology;
  • musical acoustics and psychoacoustics;
  • theory and history of instrumental performance;
  • liturgical musicology;
  • musical archeology and anthropology;
  • campanology;
  • issues of musical instruments collecting;
  • electronic audio and light technologies as a creative instrumentarium
  • contemporary audiovisual technologies in music and art;
  • art therapy as a phenomenon of contemporary instrumental culture;
  • organology in the system of cognitive sciences and arts.

Scientists, musicians, composers are invited to participate. The collection of materials upon the congress are planned for publication.

 

Forms of participation: report (10-15 min.), a multimedia demonstration (not more than 30 mins), poster presentation.

 

Deadline:

Until February 22, 2019 – application: name, academic degree, work position [brief abstract], address, e-mail, proposed form of participation, report abstract.

Until July 1, 2019 – materials for publication (10.000 – 20,000 char.), CV RUS & ENG (250 char).

Footnotes and notes should be placed inside the main text body. Numbered list of literature should be placed at the end of the article in alphabetical order. References to the literature are given through the colon in parentheses: the first digit is correspond to the publication number, the second – to the page number. For example – (2: 68).

Travel expenses including an accommodation – at the expense of the sending party. The Organizing Committee reserves the right not to include reports in the program and decline to accept materials that do not correspond to the issues of the congress.
